Our Standards
Vio Worldwide takes an active role in developing and driving forward key industry standards in the printing and publishing industry, especially JDF as part of CIP4, and AdsML.
CIP4
CIP4 is an international, worldwide operating standards body established to encourage computer-based integration of all processes in the graphic arts industry, including the specification of standards such as JDF (Job Definition Format).
JDF is a comprehensive XML-based file format designed to act as an industry standard for end-to-end job ticket manipulation and processing. It is intended to enable the entire industry, including media, design, graphic arts, on demand and e-commerce companies, to implement and work with individual workflow solutions.
Vio Worldwide plays a prominent role within the CIP4 organisation as chairman of the Asset Transfer Forum working on defining the standards for the exchange of jobs between organisations. It is also a member of the Preflight Committee working with companies such as Markzware and Enfocus on defining standards for checking the integrity of files.

AdsML
The AdsML Consortium is the result of a joint initiative of newspaper technology associations in the US and Europe to automate the complex and fragmented processes involved in the advertisement lifecycle. The Consortium is building a set of XML specifications and associated business processes for the electronic exchange of business information and content for advertising.
Its structures and standards are designed specifically for international adoption and cover all forms of advertising. Its objective is to enable business partners to simplify and accelerate interaction between their businesses and to facilitate the adoption of automated business processes across multiple media.
Vio Worldwide is a Founder of the AdsML Consortium along with the Newspaper Association of America, Ifra, Associated Newspapers, Agfa and others. With its strong commitment to the development and adoption of XML standards, Vio Worldwide plays a vigorous role in the Consortium and has a representative on the Consortium's Steering Committee.

AAAA ebiz for media
AAAA (the American Association of Advertising Agencies) launched an initiative called ebiz for media in February 2006. Its declared intent is to digitize the process of exchanging Insertion Orders across all media - from TV to billboards.
AdSEND has been intimately involved in this whole process. We are the sole representative from the publisher side of the Founding Gateway group - this group is defining the infrastructure of the Gateways that will facilitate ubiquitous message exchange.
We lead the development of the Print Media Order Schema, which is based on AdsML.
We are represented at the ebiz for media Registry group. This group is working on the creation of a Registry, hosted by AAAA, that will validate all ebiz for media message exchanges between trading partners.
Last, but by no means least, we are working with MPA (Magazine Publishers of America) and NAA (Newspaper Association of America) to create the business rules and transaction sets that will make the exchange of print media messages possible. In fact, we are on the MPA eBusiness Task Force whose charter is:
To enable two-way electronic exchange of ebiz for media messages between magazine print media buyers and sellers, which will include all transactions from order through invoice reconciliation.
